Daily poem #1- July 21 2009

Two poems today. Here's the first one.

Sex And The Soul

She says, The body is a dark house
and the soul its lamp.
He says, I have matches.

She says, Beauty is an unvisited darkness
lit from within.
He says, It isn’t very modest is it?

She says, A light shines within,
but it’s hard to see.
He says, Try opening the shutters and the door.

She says, Jesus is my light
and my guide.
He says, Tell me where you’re going.

She says, I think of Jesus
like a lover.
He says, I’m not sure where that leaves me.

She says again, Beauty is a light
that reaches us from inside our darkness.
He says, Maybe you can look inside of me.

She says, If you love Him,
Jesus will live inside you.
He says again, Maybe you could take a look inside me.

All night they wrestle with the light.
